Second of four days watching In Flames kick off the Avenged Sevenfold/ Disturbed UK Arena tour. This time in the capital of heavy metal, Birmingham.
Another late doors meant another shortened set although we only missed Deliver Us this time round. The band especially Anders Fridén sensed the crowd were more approachable than in Glasgow, the last time we saw them, as there was more banter between songs. The band being more confident played with more enthusiasm and the new bassist Håkan Skoger felt more at home.
As I looked over to the crowd which understandably was more for the main acts, there was plenty of singing and enjoying In Flames performance. Always a good sign! The two new songs from Battles, The End and The Truth are getting better reactions each time they’re played and more fans singing along. All in all a great night of Swedish heavy metal.
