the haunted live at brewhouse
I had the opportunity to see The Haunted in their home environment of Gothenburg last Friday 15th April and was privileged to be able to take some photos of the event.
After arranging to meet Anders Bjorler around 5pm at the venue The Brew House for a photo pass I had to wait around for another three hours before doors at 8pm. I took this chance to take a look round the surrounding area and also met up with Per Moller Jensen, Anders and Jonas Bjorler for a quick chat before being allowed in to watch the soundcheck.
After coming back after my little trip around the Liseberg area of Gothenburg, I returned to the venue, dropped my bag off in the changing room and readied myself for the night’s concert. Plenty of fans had
already gathered inside the auditorium, a small and compact place about 700 person capacity. Surprisingly for someone used to curfews at rock concerts, the first band Zombiekrig only came on stage around 9pm. Which is usually the time for the main act where I come from! They played a blistering 45 minute set and in my opinion definitely a band to keep an eye on for the future.
At 10pm, as the crowd were getting restless and the chants of “Haunted Haunted” echoed around the place, the first bars of Never Better filled the air as the band took to the stage for what became an epic night of pure magic.
Every member of the band gave a 110% that night, Peter Dolving ever the showman had the crowd eating out of his hands before the first song had finished.
The set was mainly from the new Unseen album including Never Better, Catch 22, Unseen and Disappear
as well as classics like The Flood and The Drowning from The Dead Eye.
The twins Anders and Jonas Bjorler sometimes looked like they had choreographed the moves that night as they seemed to headbang in unison for most of the night.
Jensen, the Riff Master kept up a furious pace all night.
and Per Jensen was as always in control behind the drumkit. The band kept up the pace with more classics like 99, DOA, In Vein and Trespass which are always a pleasure to hear. With all the mixed press about the Unseen album, I can safely say whatever peoples opinions are of this record, the songs I heard will be the classics of the not too distant future.
I had an amazing experience for my first visit to Gothenburg and would like to thank The Haunted for making me feel very welcome!
I hope the videos and photos give a little taste of what I and a few hundred other fans saw first hand.
